This past weekend I hosted an open house in Silver Springs. It was a relatively quiet day and near the end of the afternoon I had the opportunity to meet Brian, the owner prior to the current owner, who built the house and lived in it for many years. He sold it a couple of years ago to a couple of students at the University but prior to that he had raised his family there, did many of the current renovations and made many memories. He came back to see what it looked like, something I think many of us would like to do at times after moving on.
He looked at it so differently than it presented itself. He saw the 'home' in this house. After hearing about his life, his hard work, building the front rock wall for the garden with his son-in-law, and the story behind the new front bay windows, I too saw it through his eyes.
I know this house will soon find a new owner and I hope they too make it a home, worthy of Brian's stories and the centre of many years of new memories.
Thank you Brian. You made my day. Keep in touch.
